In this role, you will:

  • Lead thermomechanical analyses of aluminum foil web handling in roll-to-roll machines, predicting issues like buckling or wrinkle formation, and ensuring practical solutions are implemented.
  • Collaborate on the design and engineering of heating systems for roll-to-roll production machines, aiming to optimize machine performance and energy efficiency.
  • Compare and evaluate different designs while working closely with external partners to deliver cutting-edge solutions.
  • Conduct diagnostics and troubleshooting of thermomechanical problems, including root cause analysis and developing effective solutions for complex machine-related issues.

Key Qualifications:

  • Education: MSc or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Mid to senior-level expertise.
  • Technical Knowledge
  • Extensive knowledge of thermodynamics and heat transfer mechanisms (convection, conduction, radiation).
  • Strong foundation in solid mechanics and structural analysis
  • Proficiency in Finite Element Method (FEM), with hands-on experience using FEM software (such as Ansys Mechanical).
  • Familiarity with computational, experimental, and analytical thermomechanics
  • Proven experience in performing thermomechanical simulations
  • Fluent English communication skills (both written and spoken).
  • Experience with CFD simulations using Ansys Fluent, especially for modeling convective heat transfer, is a plus.

What We Offer:

  • Our terms and conditions are conforming the Collective Agreement Metalektro (CAO);
  • A fulltime position for 40 hours per week, mostly within office hours;
  • A salary ranging between € 4.000,- and € 6.000,- for a 40 hours working week depending on relevant working experience;
  • 27 holidays and 13 scheduled paid days per year for a fulltime job;
  • Pension scheme at PME;

About HyET Solar:

Based in Arnhem, HyET Solar is at the forefront of developing flexible, lightweight solar modules. We are scaling up from pilot to commercial production, with diverse applications in modern, uniquely shaped roofs, facades, and other construction-limited environments such as airports, shopping malls, and distribution centers. Our facility is equipped with 20 advanced machines at various stages of development. Handling processes such as gas deposition, lamination and drying. We have an international team of around 70 passionate colleagues and contribute to the energy transition by making innovative roll-to-roll processed solar foils.

We are constantly looking to make major updates to our current machine line and are on the verge of starting to design the next generation machines for our most complex processes.
