During the trade mission with the King and Queen of the Netherlands, HyET Solar and PT Pertamina signed a contract with the intentions to build a manufacturing facility in Indonesia. The singing of the contract was a result of earlier discussions and visits of both companies to Arnhem and Jakarta.

The facility will be specialized in the production of a-Si:H type solar modules called Powerfoil.
“This is an important step towards a global rollout of our product. We have proven that our technology works and that it has the potential to be cheaper than glass solar panels. To do that we need factories at this scale” says Frans Mulder, CEO of HyET Solar.
Why HyET Solar choose to build the first 300MWp factory in Indonesia Mulder elaborates: “Indonesia is the perfect market for us to build this factory. Our product can be made with materials that can be sourced locally. This is good for the local economy and saves on the material costs. Research also shows that our product has a much better performance ratio in tropical climates than glass solar panels so climates such as that of Indonesia are a good place to show our product at large scale.
PT Pertamina, originally an oil company will take a majority stake in the manufacturing facility in Indonesia. The deal comes weeks after Vopak took a minor stake in the Dutch manufacturing facility in Arnhem, The Netherlands. After a succesfull demo at Vopak storage tanks in Vlaardingen the company decided to take the next step towards renewables.
